21. What is N I O S success mantra?


It is a speciality of Nios board that it is very easy and flexible. Once enrolled in the board, the learner is eliggible to give exam 9 times within 5 years. After you clear any exam it is accepted and secured for further examination attempts. This procedure is accpted for all streams (1, 2, 3 & 4). 23. Do you think it is difficult for students to score better in NIOS than in CBSE board?

 

It is completely not difficult when you compare NIOS to other boards like CBSE, ICSE, or other state boards because it gives you 9 attempts to appear in exams.Because it has no age bar and is very lenient on the numbers of attempts a student is allowed, NIOS gives a chance to school drop-outs (even adults) to continue with studies.  The lenient time constraint of five years given to students to clear each of the Secondary and Sr. Secondary (with either or both Academic or Vocational courses) with as many as nine possible attempts.

25. What advise does NIOS give to students who have failed in CBSE , ICSE or UP Board exams?

In N.I.O.S the admissions are going on throughout the year 24x7 days of the 365 days with exams conducted all year round. If the student has failed in board years (xth & xiith)  of CBSE, ICSE or UP Board as well as other provincial boards, these students can be immediately enrolled in Stream 2 of Nos by providing their original failed marksheet. There is a trasfer of marks system known as Transfer of Credit (TOC) in NIOS where a maximum of 2 subjects can be transferred from other boards.

26. Is the candidate allowed to apply for re-evaluation of answer sheet in case the result is not as per the expectation?


There is no re-evaluation or scrutiny for the Secondary Examinations. The National Institute of Open Schooling has introduced the re-evaluation of answersheets at the Senior Secondary level. This will be in addition to the already existing system of scrutiny/re-totaling of marks for Secondary and Senior Secondary levels. Candidates who have appeared for the Sr. Secondary exams of NIOS in April-May 2010 or after can apply for re-evaluation of answersheets in theory paper of any subject. There is no provision and procedure for re-evaluation in Practical exams.

27. How to get duplicate NIOS pass certificate?


To get duplicate Marksheet/Migration/Provisional certificate the student needs to get a Bank Draft of requisite fee in favour of Secretary , National Institute of Open Schooling, Payable at NOIDA, along with prescribed application form and any documentary proof (such as photo copy of Identity card or any document received from NIOS) may please be sent on the appropriate address.To get duplicate Pass certificate A Bank Draft of requisite fee in favour of Secretary , NIOS, Payable at noida, along with prescribed application form and original affidavit.

28. Is it compulsory to pass in N.I.O.S theory and practical exams separately?


Pass Criteria for Secondary Course (Class X) in a subject for NIOS is a minimum of 33% marks in the aggregate (Theory plus practical wherever applicable) in the public examination. Pass Criteria for Senior Secondary Course (Class XII) in a subject for NIOS is a minimum of 33% marks in the aggregate as well as separately in theory and practicals in the public examination. The marks obtained in TMA will be shown separately in the marksheet.

29. What is PCP in NIOS?


Each accredited institution or coaching is supposed to organize Personal Contact Programmes (PCP) on weekends/holidays under the guidance of a facilitator, who is generally a scholar associated with the NIOS Board. During these sessions, teachers (teachers of the school if the school itself is a study centre, or those of a school working in collaboration with the study centre if it is an NGO) help students with the course work.

NIOS gives 80 percent and above for really exceptional students and learners. NIOS Board is quite strict in their correction pattern. The subjects which include practical papers will have an advantage than theory papers like Home science, data entry, chemistry, physics etc. Usually NIOS students given their limitations of time or interest in academics, they get 70 to 80 percent average and this is more than sufficient to get into courses that can give you leverage in your career to top courses ahead in your life.

But want to make it clear that NIOS does not provide any Graduation or Post Graduation degrees or courses. The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) (www.nios.ac.in) conducts the 10th and Plus Two examinations and works under the Ministry of Human Resource Development. 39. What are Exemptions available during NIOS exams ?


A candidate who wishes to avail the concession in Examination is required to produce a Medical Disability Certificate of a Govt. doctor from a recognized Hospital/Medical Institution indicating the nature of his/her disability and the extent of the disability.While appearing at the examinations, the candidate will write his/her disability on the top of the answer script, which will also be authenticated by the Centre Superintendent.

40. What are degrees, certificates awarded after clearing nios exams ?


NIOS is completely a Government approved institute and offers private education to the students. Any student who has completed his/ her education from this institute or Board is eligible for any further studies in graduation and post graduation and professional courses and also can apply to various job vacancies in both the PSUs and Private job sectors as well.
